The world’s largest derivatives exchange has announced that its suite of crypto futures and options is now accessible 24/7 via the CME Globex platform.

This enhancement allows traders to react to market-moving events during weekends, holidays, and overnight sessions.

This change aligns CME’s trading schedule more closely with the continuous nature of cryptocurrency spot markets, where bitcoin and other digital assets are available for trading around the clock.

According to CME, its crypto products saw nearly $3 trillion in notional trading volume in 2025, underscoring the increasing institutional demand for regulated exposure to digital assets.

Currently, the exchange offers futures and options linked to bitcoin and ether, as well as newer contracts associated with XRP and Solana.

The extension of trading hours potentially provides investors with enhanced flexibility to hedge their positions amid periods of heightened volatility.

Historically, bitcoin has witnessed significant price fluctuations outside of traditional market hours, especially during weekends when notable macroeconomic or geopolitical events occur.

With CME’s new continuous access to crypto futures and options, traders can effectively manage their exposure to bitcoin, ether, XRP, and Solana throughout the week without needing to wait for traditional market reopenings.
